Substitute toll — car
To be paid on the spot or within 14 days. It replaces the missing vignette, without covering the rest of your stay.
Substitute toll — motorcycle
Same procedure for powered two-wheelers subject to the vignette.
Fine in case of refusal
If the substitute toll is not paid, or in case of a tampered vignette, administrative proceedings apply.
Special toll sections (Brenner, Tauern, Arlberg, Karawanken, Gleinalm) are not covered by the vignette: they are subject to separate charges.

When is my vignette active?
On the date you choose. Bought online, it can start immediately — without the 18-day waiting period that applies to standard distance purchases.
Are mountain passes and tunnels included?
No. The Arlberg, Brenner, Tauern, Karawanken and Gleinalm are special toll sections, to be paid separately.
I changed my plate, what should I do?
Before the start of validity, the change is free. Afterwards, it is only possible in certain cases (theft, justified change of vehicle).
